Huawei

The Teleport can connect to Huawei SmartLoggers with system requirements as described in the SmartLogger Modbus Interface Definitions document. The Teleport can also connect to Huawei Inverters with system requirements as described in the Solar Inverter Modbus Interface Definitions document. You can connect using Modbus TCP over ethernet (recommended for SmartLoggers) or Modbus RTU using the RS485 serial interface (recommended for inverters).

Connect the Teleport to a Smartlogger

Warning

  • These steps are tailored to the Huawei SmartLogger3000A. They might deviate slightly for different SmartLogger types.

Modbus TCP over ethernet

The Teleport can be connected to the Smartlogger via a router or directly via the WAN port of the logger.

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the router. Navigate to our appendix for generic instructions on how to integrate with a router. Make sure to note the IP of Teleport and the IP of the asset(s).
  2. Log in to the Smartlogger web UI, see Huawei documentationopen in new window for login instructions. Note that you will need to have the username and password at your disposal. Note that if you want to set a fallback configuration extra steps apply.
Optional extra steps for fallback configuration
  1. Update smartlogger to version V300R023C00SPC152 or higher

  2. Go to Active Power Control and:

    • Change Limit solar inverter power upon active power scheduling timeout to Enabled.
    • Change Active power scheduling timeout threshold for triggering solar inverter power limiting to 60.
    • Change Power (in percentage of rated power) of solar inverter in case of active power scheduling timeout to target percentage.
    • Change Power (in percentage of rated power) of ESS in case of active power scheduling timeout to target percentage.
  1. Go to Settings and choose Comm. Param
  2. Go to Modbus TCP and:
    • Change link setting to Enable(Limited)
    • Enter the IP of the Teleport (obtained from the router) in Client 1 IP Address
    • Leave Address Mode on Comm. Address
    • Leave SmartLogger Address on 0. If the value is different, let us know the currently configured address. This is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the Teleport.
  3. If the optional fallback configuration is not selected, go to Active Power Control and:
    • Change Active power control mode to Remote communication scheduling.
    • Change Schedule strategy to Strategy 1.
    • Change Adjustment coefficient to 1.0.
    • Change Shutdown upon communication exceptions to Disable.

Direct connection via the WAN port of the SmartLogger

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the WAN port of the Huawei SmartLogger.
  2. Log in to the Smartlogger web UI, see Huawei documentationopen in new window for login instructions. Note that you will need to have the username and password at your disposal. Note that if you want to set a fallback configuration extra steps apply.
Optional extra steps for fallback configuration
  1. Update smartlogger to version V300R023C00SPC152 or higher

  2. Go to Active Power Control and:

    • Change Limit solar inverter power upon active power scheduling timeout to Enabled.
    • Change Active power scheduling timeout threshold for triggering solar inverter power limiting to 60.
    • Change Power (in percentage of rated power) of solar inverter in case of active power scheduling timeout to target percentage.

  1. Go to Settings and choose Comm. Param
  2. Go to Wired Network and verify that the WAN Port Parameters are on the factory default (IP Address: 192.168.0.10, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0). If the settings are different, please inform us of the exact settings. This is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the Teleport.
  3. Go to Modbus TCP and:
    • Change link setting to Enable(Limited)
    • Enter 192.168.0.11 (the IP of the Teleport) in Client 1 IP Address. Note that if the WAN Port Parameters of the logger in point 4. are not on the factory default, Teleport will have to be manually reconfigured to a different IP address, and this step will have to be done again.
    • Leave Address Mode on Comm. Address
    • Leave SmartLogger Address on 0. If the value is different, let us know the currently configured address. This is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the Teleport.
  4. If the optional fallback configuration is not selected, go to Active Power Control and:
    • Change Active power control mode to Remote communication scheduling.
    • Change Schedule strategy to Strategy 1.
    • Change Adjustment coefficient to 1.0.
    • Change Shutdown upon communication exceptions to Disable.

Connect the Teleport to Inverter(s)

Warning in case of connecting directly to the inverter(s) (no Smartlogger available)

  • If the inverters upload their data to a portal/app via a 4G dongle or similar device, this device will have to be removed. Consequently, no status overview of the installation will be available. To mediate this problem, the installation of a Smartlogger is necessary. Please ask your installation company about this.
  • To configure some models (e.g. Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M1) an Android phone with USB to micro USB cable is needed for logging into the inverter (connection over a WLAN module or a Bluetooth module).

WARNING

  • These steps are tailored to the Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M1. The location and the phrasing of settings might deviate slightly for different inverter models.
  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the master inverter (first inverter in case of cascading). Depending on the configuration, Teleport can connect to up to 3 strings of inverters.
  2. Log in to the inverteropen in new window over a USB cable and log in as an advanced user. Note that you will need to have the username and password at your disposal.
  3. Go to Settings and then choose Feature Parameters. Navigate to RS485-1 communication (or RS485-2 communication) and select Enable. Note that both RS485-n communication interfaces should have the same configuration.
  4. For the connected RS485 interface, verify that each inverter has the following settings:
    • Protocol type: Modbus
    • Port mode: Slave mode
    • Baud rate: 9600
    • Parity: none
    • Stop bit: 1
  5. In the case of a single inverter, verify the Com address is 1. In case of multiple inverters, please set each inverter in a string to a different address and let us know these addresses. This is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of the Teleport.
