SolarEdge

The Teleport can connect to all SolarEdge inverters and loggers which support SunSpec protocol, e.g. SE100K. You can connect using Modbus TCP over ethernet (recommended) or Modbus RTU using the RS485 serial interface. The configuration can also be done using the SetApp which is not covered by this installation guide.

Use the LCD light button to navigate the menu. A short press, one second, scrolls to the next menu options and changes values. A long press, three seconds, selects an item or confirms a value.

Modbus TCP over ethernet

  1. If there is a router available, the preferred option is to connect to the asset over the local network. For instructions on this, navigate to our appendix

  2. If direct connection is necessary, connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the LAN port of the SolarEdge asset.

  3. Configure Modbus TCP for the master inverter.

  4. If there are slaves connected to the master inverter via RS485, follow Configure an RS485 slave inverter for all slaves and change the device ID on each inverter to a unique number among all slaves connected to the master inverter.

Configure Modbus TCP

  1. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the OFF position (this step is not needed when using the SetApp).

  2. Press and hold down the LCD light button until the display shows release to enter the menu, or a similar message.

  3. Navigate to Communication and select the menu.

  4. Navigate to Server and change the value to LAN.

  5. Navigate to LAN Conf, select the menu and configure the following items.

    1. If a connection is established through a router, configure the following items. - Set DHCP: Enable - Modbus TCP: Enable

    2. If a conntion between the Teleport and the master inverter is direct, configure the following items. - Set DHCP: Disable - Set IP: 192.168.0.10 - Set Mask: 255.255.255.0 - Set Gateway: 0.0.0.0 or leave the value empty - Set DNS: 0.0.0.0 or leave the value empty - Modbus TCP: Enable

  6. Confirm the settings and exit the menu.

  7. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the ON position. (this step is not needed when using the SolarAPP)

Modbus RTU over RS485

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the SolarEdge inverter inverter.

  2. Configure Modbus RTU for the master inverter.

  3. If there are slaves connected to the master inverter via RS485, follow Configure an RS485 slave inverter for all slaves and change the device ID on each inverter to a unique number among all slaves connected to the master inverter.

Configure Modbus RTU

  1. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

  2. Press and hold down the LCD light button until the display shows release the to enter the menu, or a similar message.

  3. Navigate to Communication and select the menu.

  4. Navigate to Server and change the value to RS485.

  5. Navigate to RS485–1 Conf, select the menu and configure the following items.

    • Device ID: to a number that is unique for the all inverters
    • Device type: SolarEdge or SE
  6. Confirm the settings and exit the menu.

  7. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the ON position.

Configure an RS485 slave inverter

  1. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

  2. Press and hold down the LCD light button until the display shows release the to enter the menu, or a similar message.

  3. Navigate to Communication and select the menu.

  4. Navigate to RS485–1 Conf, select the menu and configure the following items. - Device ID: to a number that is unique for the all inverters - Device type: SolarEdge or SE

  5. Confirm the settings and exit the menu.

  6. Turn the inverter ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
