AlphaESS

The Teleport can connect to the AlphaESS products included in the list of supported models below.

Supported models
  • SMILE-G3-T4/T5/T6/T8/T10 (residential series)
  • EMS4.0/5.0

Alpha ESS SMILE

The asset can be controlled via the Teleport to set the following operations.

  • dispatchPower - to control active power setpoint
  • chargeToState - to control the setpoint percentage at which the battery should be

Modbus TCP over ethernet

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable between the asset and either a router or an Ethernet port of the Teleport. If connected via a router, please navigate to our appendix for more instructions on how to integrate with a router.

  2. Confirm that the default slave address of the asset is set to 85, or set a different ID.

  3. Configure the TCP settings on the asset according to the asset manual.

Modbus RTU over RS485

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the AlphaESS.

  2. Check that the default settings are:

    • Device address: 85
    • Data bits: 8
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: None
    • Baud rate: 9600

Alpha ESS EMS4.0/5.0

The Teleport can connect to Alpha ESS commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems, including the TB125 series, using Modbus TCP over Ethernet.

Supported configurations & software versions

Depending on the hardware architecture of your Alpha ESS containerized solution, the system uses either EMS 4.0 or EMS 5.0 control layers:

  • EMS 4.0 Platform (TB187–TB500 product lines): Requires SCADA software version V0.3.38.0 or higher.
  • EMS 5.0 Platform (LC-TB125-EX product lines): Requires EMS software version EMS5-S-RC-P001B030 or higher.

The Teleport manages the following modes of operation:

  • dispatchPower — Direct remote active power setpoint regulation (Invert sign pattern: Positive = Discharge, Negative = Charge).
  • fixedReactivePower — Direct reactive power setpoint regulation (support for fixed injection and absorption bands).

Local HMI Verification Steps

To ensure the Alpha ESS gateway accepts raw Modbus control streams from the Teleport edge device, verify the local strategy profile settings:

  1. Log into your system’s WEB management control panel interface.
  2. Navigate directly to: Control Strategy => Basic Settings.
  3. Ensure the following mandatory configuration states are active:
    • Startup / Operation Mode: Third-party Dispatch / Remote Control Mode
    • Local / Remote Toggle: Remote
    • Dispatch Protocol: MODBUS-TCP

Modbus TCP over ethernet

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable between the asset and either a router or an Ethernet port of the Teleport. If connected via a router, please navigate to our appendix for more instructions on how to integrate with a router.

  2. Confirm that the default slave address of the asset is set to 1, or set a different ID.

  3. Configure the TCP settings on the asset according to the asset manual.
