P1 dongle

The Teleport can connect to meters with a P1 port and DSMR 5.0 using the Smartstuff products included in the list of supported models below.

Supported models

• P1 Modbus Pro/Pro+, software version 1.5.3 (25/09/2025) or higher.
• Ethernet P1 Dongel Pro+, software version 4.15.13 (Sep 12 2025 14:22:59) or higher.
• Other products supporting the Smartstuff DSMR-API.

The properties listed below are supported by the P1 dongle, assuming the data is available on DSMR 5.0 compatible P1 port of the connected meter.

Note

The meter the dongle is connected to must support DSMR 5.0. See the Netbeheer Nederland DSMR 5.0.2 P1 companion standard for information on this standard.

P1 Modbus Pro/Pro+

1. Update the software of the dongle to 1.5.3 (25/09/2025) or higher and configure the float Modbus mapping.
   1. Connect an USB cable between the dongle and your laptop.
   2. Open the Smartstuff installer page, https://install.smart-stuff.nl/p1m/, in the browser.
   3. Select P1 Modbus Dongle Floats 8E1 9k6 id:1 from the list, click on CONNECT and select the serial port of the Modbus dongle.
   4. Click install, select the Erase device checkbox, and click on NEXT.
   5. In the confirmation box, validate the Floats 8E1 9k6 id:1 software is selected and the device is going to be erased before clicking INSTALL.
   6. Within a couple of minutes, you should see a message indicating the installation is completed. The USB can be unplugged now.
2. Connect the Smartstuff device, the IN port in case the device has multiple ports, to the P1 port of the meter. If the dongle also has an OUT port and you want to use that port, make sure to connect the USB of the dongle to an USB adapter/charger.
   • D+ of the Teleport connects to the A+ pin of the Smartstuff dongle.
   • D- of the Teleport connects to the B- pin of the Smartstuff dongle.
3. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the dongle.
4. One of the leds of the dongle should start flashing every second, indicating communication between the dongle and the meter. See the Smartstuff product page for details on the leds.

Ethernet P1 Dongel Pro+ (DSMR-API)

1. Connect an Ethernet cable between the router and the Smartstuff dongle, as well as between the router and the ETH1 port of the Teleport. Please see Connecting through a router for more instructions on connecting with a router.
2. Update the software of the dongle to 4.15.13 (Sep 12 2025 14:22:59) or higher and configure the float Modbus mapping.
   1. Navigate to the web interface of the P1 dongle in the browser.
   2. Go to the System info page, under the information icon, and select the install button next to the Latest firmware.
   3. Within a couple of minutes, you should see a message indicating the installation is completed.
   4. Go to the Settings page, under the gear icon, and set the Modbus Mapping to 7. This selects the float Modbus mapping.
   5. Click on Save to save the settings.
