Configuration

Modbus TCP over ethernet

The Teleport can be connected to Phoenix Contact meters via a router or directly via the LAN port of the meter.

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the router. Navigate to our appendix for generic instructions on how to integrate with a router. Make sure to note the IP of Teleport and the IP of the asset(s). The router should be configured to assign a fixed IP to the meter.

  2. Enable DHCP in the communication settings of the meter via either the web server or the display.

Direct connection via the LAN port of the meter

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the LAN port of the Phoenix Contact asset.

  2. Navigate to the communication settings of the meter via either the web server or the display. Configure the following settings, with values as described in Static IPs for a direct asset connection.

    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • Gateway
    • DHCP: Off
  3. Navigate to the Modbus settings on the meter and confirm that the following defualt settings. If other settings are desired, please notify us about any changes made:

    • Modbus TCP activated:
    • Modbus RTU activated:
    • Address: 255
    • Master Gateway:

Modbus RTU over RS485

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the Phoenix Contact meter.

  2. Navigate to the Modbus settings via either the web server or the display, and confirm that the following defualt settings. If other settings are desired, please notify us about any changes made:

    • Modbus TCP activated:
    • Modbus RTU activated:
    • Address: 1
    • Master Gateway:
    • Baud rate: 9600
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: None
