Socomec

Teleport can connect to Socomec meters. You can connect using Modbus TCP over ethernet (recommended) or Modbus RTU using the RS485 serial interface.

Configuration

Modbus TCP over ethernet

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the LAN port of the meter. If the LAN port of the meter is already occupied (e.g. connected to a router), navigate to our appendix for instructions on how to integrate with a router.

  2. In case Teleport connects directly to the meter, navigate to Setup and configure the following settings, with values as described in Static IPs for a direct asset connection.

    • Addresing Mode: Static
    • IP Address
    • Subnet Mask
    • Gateway
    • Primary DNS
    • Secondary DNS
  3. Validate following settings related to Modbus:

    • Modbus TCP Address: 5
    • Modbus over TCP Port: 503

Let us know your device address in case you require a value different from the suggested one.

Modbus RTU over RS485

Configuration of Modbus settings through meter display

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the meter.
  2. Configure the Modbus settings using the display:
    • Press until you reach the Modbus parameters selection menu. At this point, the display will show SETUP?.
    • Press and hold for more than 3 seconds to start editing the Modbus settings.
  3. Teleport is configured to use the following Modbus interface configuration. Please configure the meter to use the same settings or let us know if you use a custom configuration:
    • Device address: 5
    • Baud rate: 38400
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: none
  4. Once the settings are correctly configured, save the configuration and exit the setup page.
    • Press and hold for more than 3 seconds.
    • Press until y is displayed and press to confirm.

Configuration of Modbus settings through Easy Config software

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the meter.
  2. Navigate to the Modbus settings through the Easy Config configuration software. You can modify the necessary settings in the configuration menu. The RS485 settings are in the parameters section under Connectivity.
  3. Teleport is configured to use the following Modbus interface configuration (let us know if you use a custom configuration):
    • Device address: 5
    • Baud rate: 38400
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: none
