ABB

Teleport can connect to several ABB power meters. You can connect to A43, A44, B23 and B24 meters using Modbus RTU using the RS485 serial interface. M4M 20 and M4M 30 meters support Modbus RTU over RS485 or Modbus TCP over Ethernet, depending on the specific model. More configuration information for e.g. the A43 series can be found in the official documentation.

Supported models
  • A43
  • A44
  • B23
  • B24
  • M4M 20
  • M4M 30

Modbus RTU over RS485

  1. Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the serial port of the meter.

  2. Set the communication to RS485:

    • Select SET and press OK
    • Select RS-485 and press OK
    • Select Protoc and press OK to see the selected protocol. If this is not configured to Modbus, select it and press OK. Press and hold OK to step back into the previous menu
    • Press to see the baud rate, modbus device address and parity and change these to the desired values
  3. Teleport is configured to use the following default Modbus interface configuration of the meter (let us know if you use a custom configuration):

    • Device address: 1
    • Baud rate: 19200
    • Stop bits: 2
    • Parity: none

Modbus TCP over ethernet (M4M series only)

  1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the router. Navigate to our appendix for generic instructions on how to integrate with a router. Make sure to note the IP of Teleport and the IP of the asset(s). The router should be configured to assign a fixed IP to the meter.

  2. Connect the ethernet cable between the router and the ABB meter.

  3. Inform us of the chosen IP and port settings.
