Janitza

Teleport can connect to a number of Janitza products. You can connect using Modbus TCP over ethernet (recommended) or Modbus RTU using the RS485 serial interface. More configuration information can be found in the official documentation.

Configuration

Warning

These steps are tailored to the Janitza UMG 806 in combination with UMG 806-EC1 Ethernet communication module. They might deviate slightly for different meter types.

Warning

Some settings might be lost when the meter loses power. To prevent this issue, make sure to save the settings to the EEPROM. So far, we’ve only experienced this issue when changing the CT ratio.

Modbus TCP over ethernet

1. Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the LAN port of the Janitza Ethernet communication module. If the LAN port of the module is already occupied (e.g. connected to a router), navigate to our appendix for instructions on how to integrate with a router.

   Tip

   To input values from the following steps: - Access the WebUI via the IP address of the meter and log in (both, the default username and password are admin).

2. In case Teleport connects directly to the meter, navigate to Settings and TCP/IP. Configure the following settings, with values as described in Static IPs for a direct asset connection.

   • DHCP: OFF
   • IP Address
   • Subnet Mask
   • Gateway

3. Navigate to Settings and Modbus and validate following settings related to Modbus:

   • Device address: 1
   • Mode: Slave
   • Device address EC1: 2
