AP Systems
The Teleport can connect to grid-tied AP-systems microinverters via Modbus RTU over RS485 or via Modbus TCP over ethernet, through the use of an AP-systems Energy Control Unit (ECU). This ECU will communicate to both the Teleport and the microinverters, and supports the standard Sunspec PICS. Please consult the official documentation for more detailed information about the AP-systems ECU.
Supported ECU Models & Firmware
- ECU-R: Serial numbers starting with 2160; firmware version 1.3.7 or above.
- ECU-R: Serial numbers starting with 2162; firmware version 2.0.2, or above.
- ECU-B: Serial numbers starting with 2163; supports all firmware versions.
- ECU-C: Serial numbers starting with 215; firmware version C1.1.3 or above.

Modbus TCP over ethernet
-
Connect the ethernet cable between the ETH1 port of the Teleport and the RJ45 Ethernet Network Port of the AP-systems ECU.
- The ECU must have a valid IP address on the network.
- The remote host port is a fixed value: 502.
-
Enable SunSpec Modbus in the software:
- Open the EMAmanager app, navigate to ECU APP, then Workspace, and select Modbus Configuration.
- Toggle the Modbus switch to “On”.
- Baud rate settings can be ignored when using Modbus-TCP.
Modbus RTU over RS485
-
Connect the serial cable between the serial port of the Teleport and the ECU’s dedicated RS485 interface.
- ECU-R: Use the RS485-A and RS485-B connection points located between the power port and the RJ45 port.
- ECU-C: Use the A, B, and G terminals located on the surface of the unit.
-
Set the Modbus RTU settings in the EMAmanager app under Workspace > Modbus Configuration.
- Open the EMAmanager app, navigate to ECU APP, then Workspace, and select Modbus Configuration.
- Toggle the Modbus switch to “On”.
-
The host serial port must match these settings (a different baud rate can be selected, as long as we are informed):
- Baud rate:
9600(selectable in the app) - Data bits:
8 - Stop bits:
1 - Parity:
None
- Baud rate:
-
Configure the Inverter addresses in the address text box within the app to ensure they are mapped correctly for Modbus polling. Click Save to finish the configuration.
